I can't help a bit with the ids but I sure enjoyed the show---I'd also love to see a picture of your "yard!"

Annika,

Always willing to oblige - with not one but three! Though not very exciting, I fear. Having two boys age six and three, I can't give too much of the garden to orchids. [In British English I'd say 'garden', I figured 'yard' was more appropriate in the US? ] Also there were no orchids here when we moved in 17 months ago.

So I have three main sites - four pine trees provide moderate shade from the midday sun at one corner (photo 1 - in the background), and at the opposite corner I have a mango with a lot of trunks that has the bulk of my collection (photo 2) - the shade is denser there - around 80+ species growing on these two sites. I also have a few orchids on the other mango in the garden (photo 3) - many branched and ideal for orchid growing, but also for treehouses - so any there have the potential to be trampled on, so I don't put anything too delicate or precious there!

As always, click to link to the larger gallery photo.

All three places (+ a bed in direct sun which isn't great for most of the orchids, foreground of photo 1) are currently exploding with this kind of orchid - I'm currently classifying as den. polysema - but I waiver between that and d. finisterrae or even possibly d. macrophyllum.

I also have these two terrestrials growing in other places - anyone know the names?

Thanks!
Phil

Fantastic, Phil! I especially love that mango with orchids sprouting all over. You've done a wonderful job of creating good growing conditions for all your orchids. Thanks for sharing these pictures!
