If it is tall, with bamboo-like reed stems, I think it may be Arundina graminifolia.IOSPE PHOTOS
Some Home Depots around here sold these as landscape plants for a while.

this one lasted for 5 days... flower just dropped off last weekend.

Don't cut the flower spike. It should be blooming successively from the same spike.

nope. i did not cut. there are a few more blooms to come. thanks for the advice!
