Another NOID Phal - Baldan's Kaleidoscope? Female
Default Another NOID Phal - Baldan's Kaleidoscope?

Hi,

I've got a NOID phal that I've had for four or five years. I've treated it with no respect, yet it keeps blooming reliably. Now that I've finally been truly bitten by the orchid bug, I've been thinking it would be nice to have an ID. [And I'll be giving it more respect. Watch, it will rot. ]

Then I saw this post this Noon:

Compare to my photos below, taken this weekend.

Could this be my ID?

Your noid is very pretty and it could be a Kaleidoscope, but there are several hybrids that look like Baldan's Kaleidoscope so it is virtually impossible to tell. I have a phal noid that looks like Cashmore, I call it the Cashmore noid.

It looks very close. Though I've only seen Baldan's Kaleidoscope that are deeper in color than yours, it doesn't mean this one isn't one, I'm not sure. These are found all over this part of Florida without tags, I've got a few myself and though I'm not sure, I am (almost) sure mine is a Baldan's Kaleidoscope. Baldan's Orchids are in Miami so it's a pretty good assumption...I think.

Take a look at mine. The first one is a peloric.

I have the same NOID!!! If the consensus is it's Kaleidoscope, then I might make a tag for mine!
