Blc Gia Doll
Thought there'd be a picture...didn't you. Sorry, not yet. More importantly I have a feeling the tag is wrong. "How can the tag be wrong, Howard, if you haven't even seen the flower?", you ask! Well because in doing a search for this name, nothing comes up... so can I get a little help here...Please? This is the tag:
Blc Gia Doll x Virat 'Star Trek'

Well, doc, you've stumped me, too. I can tell you that there is a Cattleya Baby Kay 'Virat' and a Cattleya Star Trek 'Orange', but I found nothing on gia doll. Maybe someone that has orchid whiz can take a look.
Are there any spikes coming? Would love to see what it looks like!

I checked OW and found nothing
There is nothing at all with the name Gia Doll or even anything close to it.
As for Star Trek, I find 5 but only 1 of them is in the Cattleya group (Bc Star Trek).

Ethan, you and me, too! But no spikes as of yet... I just brought this home from my last trip to Florida. Since I'm going back this week, maybe I can find out from the seller.

Is the tag hand written or printed? I never trust any tags that are hand written - too much room for error. I would assume printed tags are usually printed from a data base, but again, there's still room for error there.
Let us know what you find out!

Did you get it at Smiley's Orchids in central Florida? I have something very similar that I can't identify as mine is labeled BLC. Varuth 'Star Track' x Jira Doll. I know the first is an Lc. Varut Startrack but the Jira doll throws me for a loop. I have tried Gia and Jia.

Targator, I got this from a friend in Stuart, FL. Where she got it from beats me! Next time I'm down there I'm going to ask about the name and purchase location.

I have more information from Smiley at Smileys Orchids. She emailed me last night and it helped me and may also help you.
Quote:
This name is from Thailand Blc. Jira Doll x Lc. Varut star track....Jira is a girl name ...Varut(h) is the guy name,in Thai, as long as the plant didn't get to register, you probably won't be able to identify it. Because they cross pollinate the orchids very day every where in Thailand...the world. Who ever have got his of her plants registered and paid the fee that name will be official even though the spelling was wrong from the parents. I try not to think about the name that much ...because it made me go crazy.
for example this the same Dendrobium ....Den. woonleng...Den. woolleng ...Den. woulleng..depend who grow them and who wrote the name tags.????

Targator, thanks very much. Is the picture a current blooming or past? It is definitely beautiful. I hope mine looks even close to yours! I know I could do a better job blooming my catts if I lived south.... it's somewhat tough getting catts to produce the large number of flowers up here... anyway, I have a problem.
