For what it's worth I would 2nd the Colmanara Wildcat Bobcat....mine has similar foliage and the spikes were dark. If it is this you will enjoy beautiful maroon/yellow flowers for months!!

Well the spike is STILL growing, it is about 15 inches now and perhaps even thicker than when I took the photo. It appears as though it is in for the long haul and not planning to bud anytime soon. I think I may have to take it out of the garden window as it appears as though it will grow way too tall for the space. Exciting!!

Wow, you're going to have quite a show of flowers, it sounds like! I still can't wait to see what they look like...Is the spike still as dark purple as it was?

I go for sort of Colmanara by the shape of the leaves and pseudobulbs. Your plants looks very healthy, good growing!

Looks totally natural to me. Many Oncidium intergenerics have colorful spikes like this. It's nothing to worry about.
