Hi all,

Many thanks for your speedy and comprehensive help. The care sheet was really useful. I'll get myself a tray of pepples and hope for a long and flowery relationship!

Best wishes,

Trevor

Hi,

My flowers are about 6cm wide and probably greener than those in your picture. Should I be concerned at the rather rapid leaf loss since it took up residence a week or so ago? Or is this normal after flowering? The flowers are starting to drop and I'm ending up with the larger canes becoming very bare with just a few leaves at the top. Do the bare canes do anything or will they eventaully wither once the nutrients have been absorbed back into the plant? Will new canes sprout from the base of the plant?

Thanks for your help!

Trevor

Hi Trevor, if your dendro is greener then its probably another hybrid, but since its the same type of plant, you can apply the same culture tips . Donīt worry about the leaf loss, mine did the same thing, and the cane was left with only one leaf at the top, and it just stayed like that until the next year, then that cane produced 2 spikes! . Then it stayed in a dormant state, until summer begins, when a new cane started to grow from the base! (they grow really fast by the way!) Im going to take some detail pictures of my plant so you can have an idea and compare!, but donīt worry cause your plant is growing normally! .

To me it looks like it could be Den. Burana Jade; regardless of it those are some pretty nice flowers.

Hi Trevor!, I took some pictures of my plant as an example, hope they help!:

This is the old cane, that was left with only one leaf:

This is the last year cane, that didnīt loose any leaves:

This is the new sprout, that will probably flower on winter, and on the next summer, like the last year one did:

And this is a picture of the whole plant... not sure if its very clear will all the green around :

HI Julieta,

Many thanks for loading up the photos. Your flowers are definitely larger than mine but the overall look is very familiar! Thanks for the reassurance about the leaves dropping. I think mine was bought just as flowering was finishing as the blooms are going over as well as the leaves dropping - so it looked rather scary! I'll wait patiently for more activity.

Trevor

In think it's a Dendrobium "Emma gold" or D."Emma green".
It's a common and vigorous hybrid which flowers at any time of the year.
I have one on my greenhouse and it's a fast-growing dendrobium!
