Catt Priscilla Ward x Schom thomsoniana??? Male
Default Catt Priscilla Ward x Schom thomsoniana???

Hi folks.

Another day, another lovely noid. And this one at least came with part of a label. I'm convinced the first line on the label says "Priscilla Ward". I've seen another label with "Priscilla Ward" on it from this batch of plants. Originally I thought they could have been purchased from a grower of that name but there's a Cattleya Priscilla Ward out there and that seems much more likely:

Orchids - Cattleya 77

Orchids - Cattleya 76

I have a plant with another label which appears to read "Priscilla Ward … L chron thomsonia". Allowing for rough spelling, the lower part of the broken tag pictured could be a reference to Laelia thomsoniana, now Schomburgkia thomsoniana – a couple of pics here:

Aerangis fastuota

And, of course, the label was found in pieces resting on the bark in the pot, so it might not even belong there. And I'm having a bit of a guess on the thomsoniana…

But if you think it might be a cross of those plants, or of anything else, I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know. Hope you can help, and thanks for having a look.

Cheers,
Aus.

It definitely has some Schomburgkia (now Myrmecophila) in it. I'd say it's safe to say that it is thompsoniana (or at least as one parent).

C. Pricilla Ward is granulosa x forbesii. Looks like it could fit. It's not registered but granulosa x tompsoniana = Luster; and forbesii x tompsoniana = Trudy Fennell.
