Default Mystery Catt - "var. jub x teparaky keeries delight"

Hi folks.

Well, here's another flower that needs a name – I rather like the spider in the photo, flora and fauna together.

This one even comes with a tag though sadly I can't make head nor tail of it – pic attached. I mean, what's the use of a tag if it's just going to confuse you? Ah well, better than nothing. It appears to say:

"var. jub x teparaky keeries delight"

So far as Google tells me, there is no such word as "teparaky", "var. jub" does not appear in that combination and there's no "keeries delight" out there. There is however a "Kerry's Delight", but it's a Dendrobium:

Any ideas?

Cheers,
Aus.

I'm no cattleya expert, but I have observed that hybrids in the Cattleya Alliance that present with a more "tubular" lip usually have some Brassavola and Laelia mixed in. But it is going to be difficult because we don't know what the full name of the of the "var. Jub" might be

Hi folks.

I fear you're right - this may be unknown forever. I recently bought 200 mature plants from a grower who was selling her collection. This was one of them, so you never know your luck - it's not impossible that there's another identical plant (which flowers eventually) with a better label on it.

And I'm sure spelling is going to be a very big issue. I've just repotted another newly acquired plant and have had to try and read an old, old label.

"LC Land of Enchant x Mont Osiris x Portiath Melc".

So far I've spent about an hour discovering there's an LC Land of Enchantment and a Cattleya (now Cattlianthe) Portiata, though on the label the "H" on the end of Portiath is quite clear. While "enchant" may be an abbreviation, it didn't help. So there's probably two spelling errors in two decipherable names. As for "Mont Osiris" and "Melc", well, no luck there - that's obviously for another day.

Ah well, it's all part of the fun ;-)

Cheers,
Aus.

And just for fun - a better pic now all the buds are open. Quite the little charmer.

I can help you with the C. Portiata, it's simply C. Portiata 'Mel' , the other one I have no idea on.
