Hi Marilyn -
As far as light - 1-2 hours direct sun in the morning. About 40% shade in the afternoon. However, being in NE Ohio we have only had 2 days of sun in the last month, but that doesn't seem to bother it.
I have it growing in a wood slat basket with very coarse bark, hanging from the ceiling. I water 1-2 times a week with a mixture of orchid bloom fertilizer and regular orchid fertilizer, mixed at half strength. On the other days, I just mist the basket, roots, and bark, but not the foliage.
Humidity ranges from 60% -80%. I thought vandas/ascocendas were warm blooming, but lately my temperatures are 70 during the day and 55 at night, and it's still producing spikes, so maybe I'm wrong?
Mine came from a local grower in NE ohio, but it seems this is a pretty popular variety, so should be relatively easy to find.
