It may not be the exact hybrid, but I think it shows that it could be (in my opinion, is likely to be) a Sarco hybrid.

That's very close, and I had to think about it for many minutes! I just about ordered this one. I had to remind myself: "You have nearly waist deep snow outside, dummy!" And the temps are below freezing! What plants would get here safely? Maybe Lichens!

I can officially say, the plant is a "half" NOID

Ross... there is something called "heat pads" they are great companions for winter travelling orchids...

Well one of you (or both) is going to have to get it, just so I can enjoy it vicariously through your pictures! I absolutely LOVE it!

You are trying to take the title of "enabler" from Shannon! Not only are heat pads effective, but they can save you but when trying to mail a plant. I agree. But my point was - wait till spring. By then I will have gone through lots of possibles (this guy is now like number 1 on the list) and narrowed the list to the ones I really want. Did that make sense?

ok, an update on this thread I finally decided to order the Sarcochilus, assuming it to be Sarco. velvet 'Chocolate' (or a very smilar hybrid/clon). This guy came to Switzerland, and brought the plant for me. He left it at the nursery, and I went to pick it last weekend... well, at the beginning I was quite angry, because I had paid for the plant in the picture, and what I found was a Flask with 5 plants inside, and no visible label... The owner of the nursery tried to apologize, because his friend (the guy from Bangkok) had not played fair... He also offered to give me the money back and he would keep these NOIDs.

Well, I really like the guy at this nursery, and we have a very good relationship. I told him it was not his fault, and I would like to keep the flask. I would be an exercise for me, as I had not grown plants out of flask since many many years, and on the other hand, I had paid for one plant and received 5 (even if in a flask).

Once at home, I decided to open the flask, and pot the little plants (well, actually not that little: two of them are larger than Paph. helenae). My Surprise, when I took the plants out of the flask, I found a plastic Tag in the medium (could not see it before as the growing medium was black). Once a washed the label, I could read that the plants I have received are actually Sarcochilus George Colthup x Sarcochilus Velvet. Later in internet I could also find that this has been registered as sarcochilus Bessie, and is supposed to be a great hybrid (if not one of the best!). This is the new hybrid that is currently winning most of the prices in Australia!

well, not that bad the mistake

now I have to wait, and cross my fingers, so that these 5 babies survive and bloom... I am looking forwrad to see what the flowers of will look like (I found pictures of Sarco. Bessie in any shade from white with red center, to almost completely red!)

I promised to the owner of the nursery, that if I manage to grow at least 3 of them, one will be for him
