I've been looking for a while, but can't find the exact name of this type of equestris. Can anyone help me with this?
I really love this phal. It's been blooming for months now and this was its last bloom. Now it already has produced five more buds, so i hope in a week i can enjoy its flowers again.
I didn't know they existed in this color! Maybe it's a hybrid? Sue, I do know of a hybrid called Phalaenopsis 'Purple Gem' (Phalaenopsis pulcherrima var. coerulea x Phalaenopsis equestris). Phal 'Purple Gem' It's in french, but the important part is the pics!

Completely orchid obsessed and loving every minute of it....
the ones I know with blue are Phal. equestris var. cyanochilus, however, they are normally white with blue lip and a bit of yellow at the base pf the lip... I had never seen one completely blue... wow!
however, and playing devil's advocate... the lip of the plant in the picture reminds me more of my Doritaenopsis Purple Martin than of Phal equestris... are you sure it is not a Hybrid?
Definitely not a Phal. equestris. I don't know what it could be.
Yeah I agree...probably Kenneth Schubert as Lagoon said. There are some real nice blue phals coming around these days...must get my hands on one Yours is great. PS - you may want to check out Welcome to Sapphire Dragon Orchids which specializes in blue phal hybridizing!
