cannot see very well in the picture, but I am almost sure it is not an orchid, but an iridaceae... reminds me of a plant with yellow flowers my grandma had in her garden in Venezuela...

thanks for the attempt. I will give u some more Information which may help youto come to a conclusion.
I am from the Eastern part of India, coastal area.The plant is planted in brick chips like an orchid.I can take closer snaps of the stem and roots if u want.

From the picture I agree that it doesn't look like an orchid but it does look a lot like the walking iris houseplant I have. In the spring mine has white flowers with blue centers; the fragrant flowers are at the end of long stems and after blooming the flowers fall off and baby plants are formed. Thanks a lot friends, Honestly I haven't seen this plant flower. I bought it as I thought it was an orchid( you see i am new to it) but now that I know what it is, I will wait for it to flower.
