Default Can you help?

Hello all,

I have bought my first 2 orchids last Sunday one in bloom and the other not. Can you kindly help me identify it so I would know its requirements and have more of a chance to survive.

I am new to orchids, though I had previously a try where I bought very small Vandas and they all died with rotting roots (its so disappointing!). It is quite strange for me to understand the humidity factor without overwatering.

Also I'm afraid to loose it since here in Malta we have some high temperatures in summer.....well its still hot at the moment 23C and don't know where to place it, so I've been going around the house with this orchid and place it in different rooms each day, because I don't know its requirements.

It is labled Cambria Grp Gem and the following are the pictures of it:

For the other one I have no pics since it bears no flowers at the moment but it says it is a Dendrobium and I found some info how to look after it but not the Cambria!!

I appreciate you kind help

Thank you

Karen

Hi Karen
The reason you didn't find info on Cambrias is because they don't exist. Cambria is a commercial name for oncidium intergenerics. I tried to find exactly which intergeneric it is, but Grp Gem is hard to find without knowing what Grp stands for...
That being said, most of the intergenerics need the same care, so not knowing the exact name is not that big or a problem! These guys need fairly high light and lots of water, especially when there are new growths growing. They don't like to completely dry out between waterings
