I think Mauro is correct. Read this article to understand the history of the famous Cattleya labiata. Note the scarity of Cattleya labiata and the possibility of the artist of drawing one at the time period. Also, I think the hummingbirds breed in spring (someone please correct me), thus spring blooming C. warneri.

This site lists all this paintings .. Scroll down the list and look for any painting with the word orchid in it - click on it and it will bring up a picture of the painting -
