thanks everyone. it looks like it will be impossible to determine exactly what it is, but most of these suggestions indicate a hybrid with a mix of Onc. varicosum and Onc. spacelatum, which is a close enough id for me. i'll post another pic of it, with more blooms open soon (i have another question to ask)
