Default From TraderJoes...a "Paphiopedilum" and a intergenic orchid? *Warning* 3largish imgs.

So I'm at Trader Joe's and I see this BEAUTIFUL and spooky orchid. I think it's an Intergenic.

Large leathery leaves---so long and heavy some cracked in the center.

Has a sweet light daffodil like scent (which makes me sneeze)

The "Paphiopedilum"
It has oblong psuedo bulbs and slender thin leaves.

That's not a Paph! It's maybe an intergeneric like Brassia-something.

Hehe I know it's not a Paph Ross---but my fiance insisted since it had a tag on it. That's why it's in quotes...

The last time I contacted a nursery they said "I'm glad you like the orchid" no name---no info. GAH. LOL.

I am fairly sure the Paph. is Miltassia Charles M. Fitch . the other one may be a Colmanara an intergenitic. Hope this helps a little .. Gin

They are both Oncidium intergenerics, and are difficult to ID without better information. The "paph" is a Miltassia or Miltassia hybrid. Whether it actually is Mtssa Charles M. Fitch is debatable although it is probably close to that parentage. CM Fitch can tend to quite crowded inflorescences from the Milt. spectabilis parent. This one has well arranged inflorescences....

I tried emailing the seller---we'll see what happens with that.

Yep, it pretty much looks JUST like that, well the "Paphilpedilum" LOL.
The other---well that's a bit more of a pain---plus it makes me sneeze a bunch. Ya get what you pay for.

What's really strange about that orchid is one has a purple lip (?) while it has a second spike that has a mostly white one. Really strange...

Looks a bit like the Miltassia Shelob 'Tolkien' I have:

This thing starts out pretty dark but lightens in the sun as this photo shows.
