Like taipan said it will climb up anything. If you put it on a tree it will climb up all the way to the top of the tree. I have mine in a pot with some good draining soil (tied to a long stick) and it's in full bloom now.

It sure looks like a Papilionanthe teres alba to me. I have the regular one in flower for the second time in 2 years (yearly then). I grow it in a pot of Sphagnum Moss, but most of the plant is out of the pot (up). They can get pretty large I think.

Remember that most terete vandacious plants need a lot of light. Here in the tropics they are grown in full sun. They are mostly Pha. Agnes Joachim (a hybrid) imported from Malaysia and now wild. Arundina bambusifolia is also found everywhere growing wild - and an import that is the national flower of Costa Rica!
Go figure.

we also call it 'cow dung flower" because our grandma use to have cow poops tied together with it and it grows crazily!

I have an unknown plant that's yet to flower that looks very similar to the form of those photos. I'd figured it was a terete vanda myself...but all I have to do now is to wait for it to flower and remember this thread ;-)

Cheers,
Aus.
