Thanks JennS! Mounting it was pretty fun, but it was difficult to maintain patience while I soaked the tree fern plaque overnight.

Telipogon, I figured it would be better to mount it so the individual root systems had somewhere to...root.

So, it is a Coelogyne for sure? I noticed that various posts on this thread talk about Bulbos.

Without seeing an actual bloom, we can't say 100% positively but...I'd bet that it is Coelogyne fimbriata.

The mount looks great but Coelogyne and Stanhopea grow out of the bottom of a basket in spectacular fashion

Hehe, I'm sure it looks awesome growing from a basket. If anything, when the plant starts overgrowing its mount, I can place it on top of a larger basket and train it around the edges and sides =) I saw a post on a different orchid forum about training it around a hanging tree fern pot and making a ball of C. fimbriata.

Well, time to wait for the blooms

That is definitely C. fimbriata, and not a bulbo. Nice looking one, and it is in spike. Bloom spikes form at the base of the leaves/top of pseudobulb just as yours is. Good mounting job, and good luck.

(I had one once, but killed it. Dont know why. It didnt like me. They typically arent a hard one to grow. I have other Coelogynes that do fine.)

Default Coelogyne fimbriata `Sellon'

I actually recognize the hand writting on the tag. It is ron Sellon's and no doupt that is where it came from. I have this plant as do many others in this area. I seem to grow it best a little on the wet side. I do this by putting it in a net basket with either bark or moss and watering frequently. I am sure it would appreciate high humidity over low humidity. It is affectionately known as a mat forming weed.

Wow, you're good! It is definitely from Ron. He was selling his at the Portland Orchid Society.
