Beautiful trash rescue. It looks like a rather large plant. Possibly someone didn't have room for it.

Beautiful plant and bloom but it kinda reminds me of Audrey, Jr. from Little Shop of Horrors!

These cacti seem to grow in large stands, I just picked up three "stalks" from someone's rubbish pile and set them in some sandy soil.

Is it a night bloomer ? with a sweet scent ?
I had one in Calif. that looks a lot like yours , trying to remember the name of it , it grew in a planter outside and was past the roof gutters , it perfumed the whole yard when in bloom . Yours is beautiful ..here is a link with quite a few different types that go by the name cereus .. Gin Nightblooming cereus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It strongly resembles Cereus thurberi (Organ-Pipe Cactus) and the flowers are a dead ringer. I always thought this needed to be larger to bloom, thus my reluctance to say for sure. Here are a couple additional ID points to see if this is, in fact Organ-pipe:
Flowers white with heavy waxy petals, 2-2.5" diameter, inner white petals, pink or reddish outer petals. Flower buds exude droplets of sugar which may attract hummingbirds. Fruit globular, 2-3" long, edible but saccharin sweet; pulp red, staining. Any of this sound right?
