Thank you, I live in Durban, SouthAfrica. About 5 kilometre from the beach, so it is nice weather and my orchids are kept in a shadehouse with a running water feature inside. I hope this is sfficient, I have only been involved with orchids for a couple of months.
Greetings, Louis
From what people have told me this species would be growing naturally near you. It is wide spread throughout Sth Africa & some surrounding countries. Very nice species to have
I would imagine that there are more than a few members of your local orchid society who grow this species. I've seen pictures online from orchid shows in South Africa that included massive flowering plants of this species. I used to have it, but stupidly traded it to another person for something else. It was an easy plant to grow, provided that it was allowed to dry out between waterings. The plant I had also did very well in direct sunlight between seven o'clock and noon. The only thing that I didn't like about it was that the flowers didn't smell all that great. But the flowers are magnificent, none the less.
