I think it is called Lucky Bamboo. You can find it everywhere nowadays. Very easy and forgiving plant, a good plant for hydroponic. Hope this helps. Welcome to the OB.

Yep, it's bamboo. I have that stuff everywhere. I even just planted a cutting in my fishtank to see if it works fully submersed! Stuff grows like a weed. You can plant it in soil or keep it in the sphag but keep it moist at all times. My tallest (2ft or so) is in a 3inch X1inch saucer that is kept full of water. The ones I have is potting soil grow much thicker and produce more secondary growths.

Thank you all for helping me with that - it looked familiar but not being in one of the usual shaped forms that one sees in malls and places I couldn't tell - there are actually a couple of houseplants I have whose labels fell off, or which I dont remember how I came by, and perhaps I'll put them up here one by one (not orchids though - those, I know exactly what they are - hope this page is not just for orchids) - there seem to be so many knowledgeable people here...
But thanks anyway.

We all specialize in orchids but most of us grow a plethora of different plants. I myself have many bonsai's, cactus's and most orchid growers in my society has a night blooming cereus. I say go for it but others may cringe. There is another board that marty started for various other hobbies, forgot the link but someone else may chime in.
