I can't tell you what kind it is, but its getting high light levels it seems, hence the red color on the leaves.

Yibyib here is an other picture. It says Rhynchostylis Gigantea Red but it looks a lot different from the regular Rhynch. gigantea, do all the rhynchostlis have ridges on the leaves? And the red color stays on the leaves because only the new leave is red the older leaves are normal. I ordered some orchids on line and this one got to my house by mistake hence all the questions and the double checking.
Thank you

About ridges, did you mean the ridge at the leaves tip?
I have some of Rhyn.gigantea Red which just deflasked for 2-3 month. I will show you the picture of them later.

Everytime i look at a regular rhyncho it looks like it has all these lines/ridges along the whole leaves. Any ways thank you for the info. Don't forget to post your pics.

Soonix, I'm so sorry for very very late reply.

Please see this link 00367 @@ ช้างแดงต้องเก็บ (ช้างแดงอ.ประสาท สีเข้มมากๆ x ช้างแดงเสธ.ช่อแน่นถี่ยิบ) @ @ โดย : aofferry : 2008-06-01 22:15:23 Powered by : 212cafe.com

There's some pictures of Rhyn.gigantea -red. They're from a farm in Thailand.

My little Rhyn.gigantea -red are so small. But I saw some differences from your picture. The pics in that link are quite the same as me, except they are bigger. You can see that picture FYI.

Thanks for the reply. I also got a regular Rhyn gigantea but the leaves are completely different. The leaves are hard not even soft like the regular. And they do not have the lines in the leaves. I contacted the seller and he told me its an Rhyn Red so... Does anyone know if Hawaii would have a different varietie than Thailand?
Thanks

Uhhhhh.....I hate to say this, but I think you are the proud owner of a Phalenopsis, not Rhynchostylis. I own 2 Rhyncos and 2 Phals and you plant definitely does not resemble the Rhyncos.....at all! I would move that particular plant to light conditions more suitable to Phal conditions as well.

You might want to track down the person that sold that to you and or jk

Im tempted. but in my inexperience i can tell its not a phal either. The leaves are hard not smooth and they are narrow and pointy at the end. The way the leaves grow there is a space between the leaves. Ok now i just had to go and take some more pics. And discovered that the top of the leaves turn green but underneat is still red. Thanks to you i also discovered something that looked like a mealybug
Let me know if anybody has suggestions.

Your input is highly apreciated.
