Got another lot of plants from a friend thinning their herd—at first, I thought this one was some kind of Bulbophyllum!
Upon closer inspection, it seems like the pseudobulbs have “nodes” like a Catasetum or Dendrobium might have, so I’m second guessing my Bulbophyllum hunch.
I also got a Dendrobium lindleyi in this lot which led me to check out the Dendrobium jenkinsii—very similar!
What are your thoughts? Thank you in advance and happy holidays!
Thank you, Roberta! I’m glad I asked before treating it like a Bulbo, although I suspect these little nubs have some ways to go before I see flowers to further narrow down what they are—I hope they live!
If we're right and it's a Den, this time of year it needs some more neglect... I have had better success at blooming D. jenkinsii than lindleyi (aggregatum = aggravatum), I probably don't neglect the latter enough. You might just be surprised next spring! That group tends to bloom on "dead-looking" plants.
