Uh, I'm definitely one of the lesser experienced people here so don't take my word for it, but the flowers make it look like some kind of Ansellia hybrid.

Hi Bethy, that is a Grammatophyllum. It is related to Cymbidium and also to Ansellia, as alecStewart1 noticed.

They like to be warm to hot all year, kept very moist, and to have high humidity. If your growing area is not very humid you must be sure it never dries out. I keep Grammatophyllums in shallow dishes of water because I can't water every day.

They also like sunshine. They may sunburn if the air is still and the sun shines on their leaves, but these are among the few plants that can tolerate direct Arizona summer sun through a window for several hours - if they are well watered and humidity is good.

You can learn more about Grammatophyllum if you use the Search function in the top maroon menu.

Looks more like Grammatophyllum scriptum to me than Ansellia. If it is, this is what you are in for.
This is mine. It started on a hanger and after crashing to the ground twice, it now lives in a chair! It also had a dozen spikes this year. It can become a massive plant.
