Like a box of chocolates....not in the order, what is it?
We had a gray mild winter, and I ordered an assortment of plugs from an Etsy buyer. All "identified" by number.
They arrived first week of February, and now are starting to bloom. The first was supposed to be Aloha Passion and I think is Miltassia Golden Spider Copius. Now Sunny Daze Hilo Bay has a blossom..and it is not that. Ideas? I am assuming these were all plugs grown by a Hawaiian grower and flipped, so are common ones likely out in commerce currently.
Seller is no longer on Etsy, but has his own site now. Wouldn't go there again.
Orange spotted bloom is about an inch or so across....
Edit...these were the list of orchids sent...

Red Fox Orchids in Australia has a large number of Oncidium meristem clones with photos. I look things up here when vendors don't post photos: Orchids Oncidium

Thanks E.S., I will check them out. I already did a browse through the Etsy offerings. I also checked Seattle Orchids as they seem to have a lot of starter plants as well...so far no dice. I don't greatly care as it is pretty I think, and I didn't pay much for the plugs, so I was happy they lived, blooms are a plus. But it would be nice to know just the same....

Wilsonara Tiger Tail looks close, but mine has more spots below the blotch on the lip. I only have one blossom to work with....who knows? I wonder what the next plants in spike will bring? Like a box of chocolates....

Sorry that your plants aren't blooming to what they've been claimed to be. I recently had a similar experience from a plant I got off ebay a few years ago. It's disappointing after 3 years of growing it and unable to contact the seller/ebay about it.
First one could be Miltassia Golden Spider, but honestly the Miltassias all look very similar haha... could be anything.

I am just pleased that they lived...and just tickled that they are blooming....
That wasn't the better photo of Golden Spider....it might not be that one, but it really looks pretty darn similar to ones online....this is a better shot...

I just did a google image search it matched the oncidium with Golden Mirth Felini's Gold Dust. Still not quite the same, but will probably never know. Was the first time I did an image search...interesting to do!
First image is Golden Mirth, second my Noid...

There is a company in Hawaii, which buys up excess production from other nurseries, and then resells. If their source has made a mistake (mix-up), they have no real way of knowing.
However, having bought from them several times, they are not very careful, and I received mis-labelled plants from them several time, such as:
What should have been Laelia gouldiana (plant looks like a compact Laelia anceps), they shipped an intergeneric Guarianthe hybrid with rounded leaves.
In a package with 10 Cymbidium plugs, they included two different labels.
I do not buy from them any longer, but they are still active. Product coming out of that channel is simply not reliable.

That is very interesting. I can easily see where flippers might purchase from sellers like that for the best price.
Especially when they are selling assortments like I bought.
Latest mystery is a "Gower Ramsey Orange Delight"...in spike and the buds are beginning to have a purple tinge....

If you are referring to Triton Orchids, understand that Michael acquires plants from nurseries in Hawaii and resells them. Some are from Quintal Farms, but the Ocidiinae plugs are likely from The Orchidworks, as that’s all they produce.

I was just referring generally to flipper selling on Etsy, thinking of a general warning to those buying online. But yes, I did get the assortment from Triton. He no long is on Etsy. It took me over a month to get the order. I am thrilled that I have so many in spike now, and I only wish I did know what they are. So far none of the blooms are for any that are on that order.
Found a blog post suggesting that when "identifying" a noid based on similar photos, to use the "cf" notation. Shorthand for compare to/with then the name. As one can never be sure what it is, but it helps to get an idea about what it MAY be and it's blooming and culture. I am doing that with mine. I don't intend to breed them or show...but nice to have names on the tags.
