The story with these two. I was at the orchid lady. First I asked what her cheapest orchid is the one pictured in the brown pot was it. I think it blooms red she had one in blossom said it was from Hawaii. To round up make the purchase an even number I asked if she had anything. She sold me the one pictured in the clear cup. Not sure if they are the same. Thanks I know its hard without flowers.

Hmmm... I would have guessed "reed-stem Epidendrum" .

Thank you for the help! I have seen Arundina graminifolia a lot it is very common here. I think I had a reed stem epidendrum or something similar in Florida. It was solid red there were two varieties when I purchased it

I researched the three native orchids from Hawaii I don't think she had any of them. She said it's from Hawaii from what she had in bloom i think their both probably reed stem epidendrum and two of the same plant. What she showed me in bloom looks like a reed stem radicans. Thanks again for all the help. If I can get them to bloom I'll update with some photos. Any idea of the size how soon that should be?

There aren't any native orchids from Hawaii that you're likely to find in cultivation - only a few terrestrials that are very rare, not pretty, from high elevations. But the climate of Hawaii is so perfect that nearly everything can grow well there - that's why there are so many nurseries. Epidendrums come from Central and South America, mostly. But they're easy to cultivate, and there have been many hybrids. Also, they tend to make keikis, so getting small plants to give away or sell cheaply is easy.
