Heh, I guess the angle ended up being a bit misleading. I wouldn't have that sheet over the glass door and would even keep the door open most of the time, but my GF is so addicted to darkness it was a battle to have even this.

I have considered moving the orchid to the kitchen for example where it would be better displayed, but with the experience I have I'm hesitant to introduce any drastic changes, the humidity and constancy of light in the kitchen would be quite different.

In hindsight maybe this thread could be moved to a different category as the attempt to identify this was doomed from the start, sorry about that!
