Default White sponge on leaf

I have a healthy looking orchid but one of the original leaves has a spongy white strip on the leaf. I am very much a beginner and only have the one orchid which otherwise seems to be thriving. Can someone tell me what it is and how to treat it please?

It depends on what insect will have laid the spongy substance. There's lots of different varieties of spongy substances on plants.

Default Spongy white streak

I'm not sure how to upload a picture here. It's hard to explain. It is white and looks like water has dried there. Maybe the leaf is dying?

If it looks like a water spot, it probably is. Don't stress over it, just keep a watch on it for any change.

Try to wipe it off with a soft damp cloth. Support the leaf from the bottom with your other hand.
