Cant tell much about the remains of the flower, but the plant does have that Elleanthus look. The spent inflorescence is also consistent with that genus, similar to Sobralia.
Hello again! I was lucky enough to have the plant to try to flower this year. Going away for a week and think I might miss the flowers since there's been noticeable progression daily, so I still might not know what it is. Could this budding habit be typical of Sobralia or Elleanthus or either? Appreciate anyone who may have insight. Thanks!
Looks like Elleanthus to me. Even when fully open I would not try to guess the species. If you miss this one, perhaps another growth will bloom when you're around. Or might hold for a week.
Thanks Roberta! I know there's no way to definitively ID it, but I'm gonna take a stab and say it looks a lot like the smiling Tigger orchid, Elleanthus amethystinus. My nieces will get a kick out of this!
