(Questionable) Laelia lundii
Default (Questionable) Laelia lundii

Hi everyone,
A couple of weeks ago I ordered a Laelia lundii, but after receiving it, I’m pretty sure it’s not L. lundii…

It’s growing a lot clumpier than I would expect, and the psedobulbs are much rounder than what I’m used to seeing in photos. The leaves are also floppier and more grass-like (if that makes sense). It seems like maybe an Encyclia to me, but I guess I’ll find out when it flowers.

I already had an L. lundii, but it’s a small division and was grown pretty stressed before I got it and hasn’t grown much yet for me, so when I try to compare them I do a lot of second-guessing and wondering if the differences are just due to different culture instead of different species…

Anyone see a lundii look like this? Could it ~actually~ be a lundii? My gut says no, but curious to hear what others think!

I’m including some photos - the first few are of the plant in question, and the last couple are of my other L. lundii.

It I'd look at it without a tag Lundii wouldn't be my guess. The pbulbs are more Oncidium like. Lundii has longer and thinner ones.
Let's see what others say.

I agree the first plant is not lundii and looks more like a small encyclia (like bractescens).

Not L. lundii. No way. You'll see when it blooms what it is, I think we all agree on what it isn't.
