Hello all!
I've spent years reading Orchid Board and I've found it so helpful and entertaining. I decided it was high time I joined...
For my first post, I'm seeking ideas as far as ID for a plant I was gifted last year. I've never seen it flower, nor had the person who gave it to me.
I'm usually content to accept the mysteries of life, but in this case, I am concerned about this plant- many strange symptoms. Yellow spots and streaks, chlorotic spots, black spots/streaking, vertical pleating, pitting and puckering, and all kinds of fun discoloration. Symptoms most prominent on older leaves, though pleating seems normal throughout the plant. None of the symptoms seem to affect the vigor as far as I can tell. Symptoms don't spread at a rapid rate and no other plants are affected, which is why I haven't composted it yet.
If these are disease symptoms, I can let the plant go, but if a rough ID reveals that this plant is just an ugly duckling, I will keep it in hopes of someday seeing a flower.
So far it has been an easy grower- lots of roots and 2 new pbulbs in the last year. Very stiff upright leaves and closely packed pbulbs. It's just not a very handsome plant...
