I'm asking a lot from you guys. I'm thinking this ask maybe impossible to tell.

I ran across this orchid on Etsy and made an impulse purchase because ... Those flowers wow!!

Dendrobium spectabile LARGE plants Makes INTRIGUING | Etsy

But after Googling pictures I'm now wondering if it is what is says it is. I know these are supposed to be cane like but the bulbs remind me of a cattleya.

I have two types of dendrobiums and this maybe looks like my dendrobium miva abracadabra but with fatter bulbs?

It's an immature plant so it's hard to tell.
They get huge and like to be really pot-bound.
Here's mine a couple of months ago.

Drool!

I was thinking being immature it maybe hard to tell. These are so pretty and unique. Right up my drool alley with orchids.

Thanks for sharing yours and your tips. My fingers are crossed.

I have seen GomezExotica on both Ebay and Etsy and their prices are a joke. Look at their full listing for a good laugh. Makes me distrust reviews and vendor feedback functionality.

Looks like a young one to me. Or at least, I don’t see anything to suggest it is NOT a spectabile

The coloring of the canes is right with my samples

Really? I am not that knowledgeable but I had searched for this species and it seemed to be priced around what others had it at. The only issue for me is other websites were out of it.
Like this website Dendrobium spectabile — Palmer Orchids

But maybe this is still expensive?

THANK YOU! This makes me feel so much better . I am usually not an impulse shopper ... okay maybe that's a lie .. who am I fooling? LOL No really, with plants , I have learned to really look at pictures and whatever and try and compare what the vendor says it is.

Drool... wish I could grow those, GH is just too small. (I do love "weird".)

Expand upwards. Install ladders and an upper gallery.

It does look like a latouria dendrobium, but it's impossible to say what it is exactly.

Mine started like this as a bag baby some years ago... actually my very first orchid I bought. It was a simpler time!

It has never bloomed... for all I know, mine not even be a Den spectabile!
