Laelia even? Thanks for any info friends! This is another one my Grandma got years ago and has no idea what it's called. This plant I separated from a huge one she had - must have been in a 15" pot.

Yes, it is likely a hybrid with Brassavola nodosa or a related species in its background. It is nicer than most of them. Your grandma (and now you) lucked out.

Probably Brassanthe Maikai (B. nodosa x Guarianthe bowringiana). Way back in the mid to late 20th century it was known as Bc. Maikai. The probable age and apparent vigor of your grandma's plant would fit that as well as the appearance. It was in practically everyone's Catt collection in the 1970s, 80s, 90s. There were seedlings as well as several clones that were widely distributed, and pretty variable flowering under different conditions, so you may not find a picture that is an exact match.

Of course, it could be a similar hybrid. It isn't possible to be sure.
