Anyone know cymbidiums? - Orchid Board

Does anyone have a guess as to what cymbidium this is? It's my original orchid, and I've divided it seveal times and have multiple plants now. I'd love to know what it is.

Your NOID cymbidium is lovely. If you know the nursery that it came from, that might help pin down its name. How large are the pseudobulbs? How long are leaves? Looks like it flowers within the foliage, and its delicate spike but floriferous gives impression that it's a miniature (flowers less than 3" across) Without labels, dna testing may be the only way to find out what the cross is. Keep up the good growing ... this one's a beauty.

Thanks. It's a great plant (actually, it has been divided into 6 or 7 plants now). Easy to bloom, lots and lots of spikes. I have no idea where it came from -- it was a gift, and the giver has forgotten. I think it's a novelty cymbidium (isn't that what they call it when it's a cross between a full-size and a miniature?). Someone on another board told me that it was a Showgirl. There are multiple varieties called Showgirl, but at least I now know more than I did before.

Well, I was going to guess Showgirl too, so maybe we are on to something. Of course I always guess Showgirl when presented with a NOID white/pink cymbidium... *grin*

If anybody would like another NOID cymbidium (in a 2 gallon pot, I think), I have one free for the shipping. It just showed up one day...

No idea... It has only been hanging around outside my greenhouse for a couple months. Like a kitten. But if I feed it it will want to come inside...
