Maxillaria which variety please
Default Maxillaria which variety please

I purchased a mature plant without ID. The owner told me it is a Maxillaria but could not remember the particular variety.
Photos included. It has ribbed Elongated pseudobulbs, 3 narrow leaves from the top and greenish/ yellow blooms, small.
Can you help me determine which variety please?

Looks like one of the species formerly classified as Rhetinantha, I will see if I can find out which one later.

ok, I have narrowed it down to two or three species, M. aciantha (it probably isn't this one), M. scorpioidea, and M. encyclioides. but I will need a flower closeup to determine which one it is. If you can, take at least one photo of the flower with a ruler in the frame so we can see how big the flower is. Right now I am leaning towards M. encyclioides. This is also backed up by the fact that M. encyclioides is available for sale from Ecuagenera, which means the species could be drifting around in the market some.

Sorry, the flowers only lasted a few days after I got it and the posted photos are all I have and already close up. Bloom is about 1/2 inch diameter.

Hi, thank you for your time in narrow it down. I believe it very well be the M. encyclioides.
I looked at bloom photos on line and looks exactly as I remember them. I do not have better photos than the posted ones.
The plant came from a Collection of a business that dealt with Ecuagenera, that your suggestion makes it more likely.
The plant is very pendulous and needed severe cleaning of dead pseudobulbs, mounted in Treefern board.
I have other Maxillarias and none of them cascade some limply as this one.
Thank you for your input.

Alright, it is almost certainly M. encyclioides then. unless ecuagenera had the ID wrong on their plants, which is unlikely.
