Hello everybody I'm new to orchids I've been doing it for about a year and a half at the most I've never seen one like this can anybody tell me what it is please and thank you

Looks like an Encyclia to me, but it could be something else too...

Encyclia was my first guess too but man that's a seriously ugly backbulb. Is that spent flower spike to the right from a different plant on the floor?.....hard to tell but if it's on the plant in question then it's not encyclia.
Another possibility could be a coelogyne.

Yes that spent spike is from a oncidium orchid I picked up two rescue orchids from Lowe's today it's kinda my new hobby the oncidium is in ok shape a little dehydrated and I need to change the potting media I think I'm going to change it to lava rock. The one in the picture I put it in lava rock with a little tiny bit of moss right under the roots just to help them stay moist because there wasn't many roots left that were worth much
