I am a new orchid enthusiast who has some early success with the easy Phalaenopsis and is looking to branch out. I purchased this lovely crimson girl yesterday that some have suggested is a Sharry Baby. I was drawn to her crimson blooms and bought her impulsively at a local grocery chain. She is a NoID. Barring a vague similarity to the legend, I can’t convince myself that she belongs to the species in the research I’ve done. Slight fragrance this morning, but again, nothing confirmatory.

Rooted in South Florida....
Reminds me of Wilsonara Firecracker 'Sangria'
'Sangria' has more white on the lip in pictures Ive seen but very similar otherwise.
I have a 'Sangria' but it hasn't bloomed yet.
I would go with DirtyCoconuts question ‘does it smell like chocolate?’ Sharry Baby has a unique fragrance that makes it fairly identifiable. Another thing with Sharry Baby is it’s leaves. Never are they clean, they are always full of blemishes, or spots. I can’t really see in the photo but they look to clean
Beautiful bloom, even if it is not Sharry Baby
