Hi!

This is Jonas from Germany.

My first thread is about a tiny orchid that was labelled "unkown rarity" in my favorite garden center. Great, this description really helped!

It would be wonderful, if someone of you could identify this little gem!

The yellow flowers are about 1 cm in diameter and have a maroon dot on their lower petals. The stems bear a kind of braun fiber and the leaves are approx. 15-16 cm long.

Any idea, what this could be? Please do kindly check attached jpeg. too.

All my best and many thanks,
Jonas

Can't help beyond it being a maxillaria.

It very closely resembles Maxillaria variabilis.

I agree, I am 99% sure it is Maxillaria variabilis.

I was also going to suggest Maxillaria varabilis! Lucky you, finding such nice orchids at a garden center. It's quite unusual for them to stock orchids other than the run of the mill unlabeled Phal/Den/Onc hybrids.
