This was sold to me as a Wilsonara Mivadeal. I was super excited as I love the size of blooms and colours on the MD.
However, quite disappointed when, after six months of care, the bloom spike showed small buds and length. I knew it wasn’t the Mivadeal from this but had to wait for the blooms to identify. But I can’t find the type.
A brownish petal with strong yellow tips blended with a cream lip and some intense purple markings at the centre. About an inch in diameter. It’s kind of pretty, but I don’t really like brown tones in my orchids. Would love to know what it was so I could sell it on and try to make back the money I paid for the Mivadeal. Grrrr I hate purposeful mis-sells...
Sometimes even reputable dealers end up accidentally selling misidentified plants, but if it's not properly labeled, then it's a NOID. Truthfully, knowing that it was mislabled and selling it as something that you or a random person on the internet guessed sounds really unethical.
Yup, that’s for sure. This was purposefully mis-sold as they had included a picture of supposed orchid in bloom.
I understand that it is technically a NOID, given the circumstance. But I am still hopeful that it might be identifiable by the flower (just in case)... Ah well.
sorry I can't be of much help as far as identification goes. I just wanted to say that there might have just been a mistake with the shipping... we can't ever prove that they intentionally mis-sold something just because they included a photo of it. they may have simply accidentally shipped the wrong plant. first try contacting the grower and seeing if you can get the one you wanted. good luck
You could also try contacting the vendor with some photos and perhaps they will know what it is. It can happen that tags occasionally get mixed up.
I can understand your disappointment, I had the same thing happen to me. I had ordered a Paph I really liked, and when it finally matured enough to bloom a few years later, it was a completely different flower than expected, also something I didn't like much. Needless to say, I don't have that orchid anymore.
