Looks like a maxillaria to me, maybe a species max. There is a good ID site you can check out, for species, I looked but there are soooo many maxillarias and the format is a slow search because you have to call up each pic, I didn't get thru them all.

Jay Pfahl has done an incredible job collecting date and posting it on this site.

Oh yeah, I missed that call, definitely a lot of miltonia in it. I don't recall seeing milonias bloom wih one flower like the maxillarias do. Usually they are tall multiflowered jewels???

Harry, This particular plant was rescued from certain death at a garden centre last November. It had a very tough life and was completely dehydrated for who knows how long, so I am amazed that it has bloomed at all. I'm sure that the next flowering will have more flowers.

My guess is Degarmoara. I have a Dgmra Winter Wonderland that looks very similiar to yours. I go along with higher humidity to avoid pleating. Good luck and show us when it blooms. (Brassia, Milt, Odontoglossum) So you don't have to look up the cross.

Lorraine, I don't think the petals on mine are so narrow. They are pointy, but they are rounder. I should look up the parent plants, as maybe it is in the background somewhere. It sure is sparkly like that though....
