This one from Trader Joe’s was $16. I can imagine Vons and Albertsons has them at $25?

I didn’t check the prices, but that's usually about right. Sometimes Vons/Albertsons “pretties” up the pot and then they run $35.

At least! Same with Safeway.

And worse with the Cymbidiums. Suddenly, the $40 Cymbidium becomes... $75!

Matsui Nursery did reply and say that to them... it appears to be a variety known (to them) as “Masai Red.”

I used to have a Colmanara Masai Red, which I was told had had its name changed to Oncostele Midnight Miracles, but mine had solid dark red petals and sepals, and I think the lip was solid red, too, or it may have had a tiny bit of white fringe.

Sounds about right, and mine is extra splashy.

Conclusion: Oncostele Midnight Miracles, a beautiful name for a beautiful orchid.
