Default Oncidium I’d please

Yep, I know a noid is a noid etc

But

Can anyone suggest an ID for this Oncidium. I think it’s a very common primary hybrid of two well known species, but I’ve lost the tag. I vaguely recall that one parent had a species name like a latinised version of ‘tiger’, and the other one had ‘leuco’ somewhere in the species name, which I guess is not surprising as it means yellow. Googling hasn’t turned up either species.

This has come about because a neighbour expressed an interest in orchids, so I made about a dozen divisions from mine and tied them too a tree in her yard. Now, after being dehydrated and roasted in the sun for a year, 4 are flowering - 2 Brassia longissima, a cochlioda ‘bronze scarab’ and one of these (a better hit rate then I get). If the ID isn’t exact it won’t matter, it’s just a way for her to mentally locate it somewhere in the vast pantheon of orchids.

Cheers
Arron

Hi Arron. For images - orchidboard usually accepts large images and then it resizes it to 1023 x 763 or something like that. It depends on the original aspect ratio anyway. Otherwise, pre-size the image to 1024 x 768, then upload it.

It sounds like you are describing O. mexico (leucochilum × trigrinum), but looking at photos of that cross it doesn't match very well. I would say this definitely has some relation to at least one of the parents though.

This looks like it has some O. fuscatum in it...

Those two names are exactly the ones I was trying to remember. I’m sure that was what was in the label. I agree it doesn’t look all that close, but I’ll tell her these are probably one or both of the parents - if not then something very close.

Thanks for the help.
