Arachnis flos-aeris? Male
Default Arachnis flos-aeris?

Someone surprised me today with this orchid, and was wondering what species could it be. Any Arachnis or Vandaceous expert that could shed some light to my inquiry?

P.S. Flowers are slightly fragrant.

Also not a vanda expert, but it looks like all the A. flos-aeris I've seen.

G'day mate, yes, that is arachnis flos aeris. They get very leggy(in full sun) and can grow very tall. I have one in a paperbark tree (melaleuka) that is over 30 ft high.
When they get leggy, just snip a section off and chuck it in a tree. Almost indestructable!

Cheers, Bobj.

I agree. I have an Aranda Bertha Braga (Vanda tricolor x Arachnis 'Maggie Oei') and it is virtually imdistinguishable from the flos- aeris species.

Very interesting plant. I've never seen one. Is it more available in Australia? I live too far north to grow vandas easily.
