Anyone know what kind of phal this is? Female
Default Anyone know what kind of phal this is?

Hi everyone! This phal was given to me by a friend. I was wondering if anyone knows what type it could be. Its growing habits are different from my other phals. When it puts out a flower spike it seems to just keep growing and growing. A few flowers at a time will bloom, after they die the spike grows longer and puts out more buds. At one time the spike was almost 16 inches long! But with only two flowers blooming on it.

It could be something in the Phal. Kenneth Schubert type breeding involving P. violacea and P. pulcherrima. There are a lot of similar-ish looking hybrids these days as there have been numerous back crosses and breeding involving Kenneth Schubert (like P. Purple Martin, P. Sapphire's Galah, etc).

Some other possibilities are that it may have some P. equestris in the background and/or things like P. bellina or P. mentawaiensis. However, it's really close to impossible to know for sure without a tag.

No idea what type of phal. But the color of it's gorgeous!
