Fuzzy yellow labellum, pink petals and sepals - Brassavola maybe?
Default Fuzzy yellow labellum, pink petals and sepals - Brassavola maybe?

This orchid was my grandfather's. I dont know much about it. There doesn't seem to be much foliage. Its responding well to weekly water and very bright light. Mounted on cholla wood. Flowers are about 2" in diameter. The buds were super fast forming and unusually elongated compared to my Oncidium And Dendrobiums.

Definitely a Dendrobium. Den. aphyllum maybe, but there are a lot of species with this growth habit so I may not have the species correct. This group of Dendrobiums tend to shed their leaves in winter (and want less water, no fertilizer in winter). Flowers appear on leafless canes - so don't ever cut the old canes until they are shriveled and dry... when leafless, they can still bloom for several years.

I'd have called it a D pierardii, the same as D. aphyllum.
No doubt in my mind at all.
Although, those that I've had, had darker tepals with the same fuzzy light yellow lip.

Roberta's advice is right on for most of the pendant Dendrobium section species plants and their hybrids.
