5 NoID Phal & 1 NoID Dendrobium
I feel like it's a long shot, but can anyone give a guess as to what these phals are? Or are they just mass produced Frankenstein hybrids? They were all rescue orchids, so I have no background.
The blooms are all over a month old, so they are not at their height of beauty, but I'm curious.
The first three pics are of large-leafed phals of unknown age. They are newer to the collection and are in baskets with bark and sphagnum.
The fourth pic is of a phal with medium leaves. It's at least 4-5 years old as I've had it mounted on driftwood for at least that long. It hasn't grown very much in size and only maintains three very healthy leaves at a time. I say. medium leaves, but in comparison to the first three and to others I see in stores, the leaves are small.
The fifth pic is of a little phal that is at least 3-4 years old mounted on the same driftwood as the other. It is a tiny little thing: 3 leaves about 4 inches long? It is either full grown or its growth is stunted given its growing conditions.
The last pic is of a phal-type dendrobium, not a phal. But, again, just curious if it can be ID'd.

The Phals all look like box store varieties. A lot of these never get names. I’ve had some luck assigning probable IDs to mine by going through websites on OrchidWire - Orchid Vendors in Taiwan . Most of these Phals seem to originate in Taiwan.
Also, take a close look at box store Phals, sometimes an ID tag seems to get left in the pot by accident. If you can’t find a labeled example of yours, you can sometimes figure out where the orchid supplier for the store is getting theirs and bring up that growers website (often one of the Taiwan growers). Most of those that I’ve bought with ID tags don’t seem to be registered hybrids so the value of the name is somewhat iffy, but I still like to have them.
Lowe’s hardware also seems to get in a disproportionate number of tagged orchids. Sometimes I’ll see identical orchids at Trader Joe’s, Home Depot, and Lowe’s but the Lowe’s one will be tagged.

That's what I figured. Thanks for the input!

Impossible to positively identify with no tag (and sometimes even when they are tagged they can be tagged incorrectly). However, number 4 Phal. is very nice.

They're all very nice noID Phals. Number 1 looks exactly like the first orchid I ever got, a noID that has been my most reliable bloomer for several years now. Number 2 is similar to Number 1, but I really like the more muted, soft-looking stripes. Number 4 looks just like some orchids Lowe's had in stock a month or so ago, and I'm kicking myself now for not buying one. I really like the colors. It's similar to Number 1 but speckled instead of striped.
I did end up buying a different plant at Lowe's just last week. It's compact -- hope it stays that way -- and has pretty variegated leaves. The tag it came with had no name but did mention the grower. I contacted them and tried to find out a name, but even with all the detailed information I provided, including the exact store, date, description of the plant, etc., they sent me a nice reply stating it would be impossible for them to say since they grow so many.
You're doing a great job with your rescues!

I can't ID your plants but, the last phal is identical to a mini I bought at IKEA a few years ago. It's bloomed reliably and remained a mini.

Thanks, all! It makes sense that these are all big box store varieties. Their previous owners were probably not into orchids that have names. LOL. It's a good thing I'm not either! I just love growing them.
Is it crazy that the blooms are not even my favorite part of orchids? I love the roots!

I really like the looks of the aerial roots on my Phals, too.

First, welcome to Orchid Board!
Yes, Geometri, there are many orchid vendors in Taiwan, and also many other countries. Identifying orchids from a few pictures with no tags involved is impossible. Just guesses, that still leave one with NOID orchids. Especially Phals, which are mass produced.
Being a senior member is not what allows one to provide a link somewhere. It's a matter of knowing how to insert it.
