Masd. Floribunda? - Album on Imgur

I bought this plant from Ecuagenera last year and this is the first time it has bloomed for me. On the surface, it looks like a floribunda but the lateral sepal seems much more fused and the ‘tails’ are little nubs compared to floribunda. The flowers appear to be pendant rather than held above the foliage as well.

I’ve been scouring my Masdevallia book with no luck yet. Does anyone else have thoughts?

I would agree with you, doesn't quite look like the floribundas that I'm familiar with, which have slightly longer caudae relative to the rest of the flower though size is similar. As far as what else it might be... there are so many Masdies, I would not even start to guess. Maybe wander though the Ecuagenera website, and if that draws a blank, IOSPE I took a look at the Ecuagenera website, and it actually does look pretty close to their M. floribunda. So that may be correct.

Yeah, their photo looks like the one I have from Andy's but still the lateral sepal has a slightly different form from each of those.

It's always possible I have one with an odd mutation too. I do like it - the patterning and colors are more vivid than others I have seen - I just want to make sure I have the right species.

There are several others on the Ecuagenera site that look similar... hard to tell from a picture that doesn't show the whole plant, though. But the presentation does let one look at a bunch at once, which you can't do on IOSPE.

I took a look at all the Masdies on their online catalogue, including hybrids, with no luck. My eyes are going cross though so I think I will pack it in for the night. Thank you for the help and thoughts. I will take another look in the morning.

I'm no Masd. expert by any means. But that is one beautiful bloom regardless. Nice!
