Phalaenopsis Chienlung Little Orange

Phalaenopsis Yaphon Lobspis × Phalaenopsis Kuntrarti Rarashati

I got this compact growing Phal from Big Leaf Orchids. It turned out alright. The color is lighter and less orange than I had hoped, but on the flip side, the lip coloration is great, it's a nice bright orange red.

The flowers are strongly scented in the morning and continue to be lightly fragrant throughout the rest of the day. The scent, however, isn't particularly pleasant. It's hard to describe, but it's pretty much what I'd expect from equestris and venosa, like unscented cleaning chemicals or something mundane like a plastic smell I guess.

I looked this up on orchidroots and apparently this cross is equal parts Phal. equestris, Phal. lobbii, Phal. tetraspis, and Phal. venosa.

Thanks for sharing. This is a combination of 2 primary hybrid.
I have second year flowering plants with keiki now - an influence from Phalaenopsis equestris. You will get lots of flowers and branching inflorescences too.

I'm looking forward to the branching. This one tried to branch but that dried up before the buds even started showing.

I also think I recognize the fragrance now. It's very similar to the scent of Ivory soap. So I guess this plant is just trying to attract pollinators who want to be 99.44% pure and clean. LOL

What a nice bright color! At least the fragrance is a fun one and not something awful.

I always think it is fun to see the results of crosses.

haha, that's funny.

Fragrance is tricky. All 4 species in the background are scented. You may find this flower emitting different scent at different time of the day.

Very nice flower .They seem to have heavy substance.How long do the flowers last?
