Rather bizarre behaviour
My elder daughter bought this for me about a year ago. It's a small-flowered, pink, no ID, compact plant from a supermarket so nothing special in itself. It flowered well and for a long time then started to grow new leaves. It worried me at first because the first leaf didn't grow well and had what looked a bit like warts on the upper surface. The tip of the second leaf had a similar issue but the rest of it grew normally and the third leaf looks to be completely normal. It's also growing new roots, even though it has the best root system of any Phal I've had. After I repotted it the roots went completely mad, visibly growing every day. They're also quite a large diameter for the size of the plant.
I'd settled down to waiting for the plant to get through its vegetative stage and expected a new spike in the Autumn at the earliest but it's proved me wrong. A few days ago I noticed activity on the old spike and it's now clear that it's pushing out two new spikes, one from the node where a side-branch emerged and the second from the first node on the side-spike. It really must want to flower!
Please excuse the image quality. They were taken on my phone.
