Default Are slight pattern changes normal in Phals?

I have a Phal that is just opening its first blooms of the year, but the pattern of color is ever so slightly different than the last time it bloomed. It's slightly darker overall, and has more solid areas of color. Imagine that last year it resembled very dense polka dots of purple with a white edge, and now the dots have bled together. Are slight pattern changes like this normal? There was no switch. It's definitely the same plant. However, there has been a significant environment change from a very dry western state, to the more humid Great Lakes area.

Photo of this year below. No photo of last year, sorry.

Patterns can vary more than a little bit - some of the Harlequin types are somewhat different even from flower to flower on the same spike.
